South Carolina officials are waiting for the winner of the latest Powerball drawing to come forward.
The winning ticket for Saturday's drawing worth nearly $66 million was sold in South Carolina. Lottery spokeswoman Tara Robertson said Monday that the ticket was sold at a Spinx convenience store on Highway 24 near Townville.
"We're hoping it's a local, you know. We don't mind if it's somebody from across the state, but it would sure be nice with the third time being the charm, being a local," manager Ronald Hurtado said.
The previous two winning South Carolina tickets were held by North Carolina residents.
"When we found out that it might be us, we were like, 'Come on people, come in and check your ticket, check your tickets'," Hurtado said.
The South Carolina Education Lottery will give Spinx $50,000 for selling the winning ticket. Spinx will give the store $5,000 to be divided between all the employees who were working when the winning ticket was purchased.
The winner could choose to take a lump-sum payment, which would be about $34 million before taxes. The winning numbers were 9-17-32-41-47, with a Powerball of 8.
A second player who bought a ticket in South Carolina matched the five white numbers, but missed the Powerball. That ticket is worth $100,000.
The winner has 180 days to claim the jackpot. If it's not claimed, the money will go into a fund to be distributed to schools with other lottery funds.

Lottery jackpot worth Bt100m
Published on Jun 30, 2004
For lottery punters, tomorrow is a big day; one ticketholder will hit the jackpot and walk away Bt100 million richer.
In an elaborate scheme to boost ticket sales, the Government Lottery Office has promised to pay out the largest lottery pot in the country’s history.
The GLO promised to keep drawing numbers until a winner is found.
In order to qualify for the jackpot, players must bet a minimum of Bt100 on the two and threedigit lottery ticket, also known as the “new ticket”.
They can place as many bets as they want.
If they choose to place a lesser bet for tickets priced at Bt50 and Bt20 respectively, prizes will be Bt50 million for the Bt50 ticket and Bt25 million for the Bt20 ticket.
The jackpot winner will be selected based on the following criteria:
The serial number of the new ticket must coincide with the first prize of the sixdigit lottery, or “regular ticket”.
The twodigit booklet number of the new ticket must also match the twodigit prize of the regular ticket.
In case none of the twodigit booklet numbers match the twodigit prize, the GLO will keep on drawing a twodigit number until the winning booklet is determined.
The jackpot prize for the new ticket will be announced at tomorrow’s draw following the regular ticket’s first prize and its twodigit prize.
Ticket vendors reported more than a 50percent increase in sales of new tickets.
Heavy ticket sales push Mega Millions lottery jackpot still higher
Lottery officials with the multi-state Mega Millions game have hiked the size of Tuesday night's jackpot by another $10 million.
The new projected estimate is $220 million, up from the previous estimate of $210 million, set when no one matched all six numbers in Friday's game.
The Mega Millions top prize has gone unclaimed since May 7th, rolling over to a higher level 14 straight times.
The game is played in 12 states: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington state.
The Mega Millions predecessor, the Big Game, made history in May of 2000 with the largest jackpot in North American history: $363 million.
