Strategy for Playing a Blackjack Hard Hand

Blackjack is a casino table game that requires players to try to get as close to 21 without going over and beat the dealer’s hand. While all casino games require some luck, some games can come with a player’s strategy that will help the player’s gain an advantage over the house. Blackjack is one of those games.

 

In the game of Blackjack there are hands that are called hard and soft hands. The determining factor of the hard and soft hand is whether or not your starting hand contains an ace. If it does then it is considered a soft hand, if it doesn’t then it is a hard hand.

 

Depending upon if you have a hard or soft hand your game playing strategy will change. Here’s a look at some tips on how to play a blackjack hard hand.

 

You are Dealt a Total of Eight or Less

If you have a total of eight or less for cards you will almost always want to hit. It is almost impossible to go over so you might as well take that extra card to get closer to 21.

 

You are Dealt a Nine to Twelve

 

When dealt a nine through twelve you will need to assess what the dealer has. If the dealer has a three through six you will want to double or hit, if the dealer has an ace you will need to hit.

 

You are Dealt a 13 Through 16

 

Always stands if the dealer’s cards are a two through six.

 

You are Dealt a 17 Through 21

 

Always, always stand if these are your cards.
