Gaming, Chatting and Etiquette

Chat room

Words sprawl within a chat room — defined by ugly capitals and exclamations, unaware of grammar and its rules. They profess enthusiasm for a game, celebrate every round; but their appearance suggests a lack of respect. And other players are forced to read dizzying letters (the streams of fonts, symbols and emoticons). Translating the expressions would result in shrieks, and such sounds would never be allowed in brick and mortar buildings.

Online casinos, however, spark a disregard for basic courtesy. The rules of etiquette are often ignored due to anonymity — even when no offense is truly intended.

Among the most common (and most innocent) breaches of gambling conduct is the misuse of chat rooms. Virtual casinos supply ways to communicate, allowing games to appear social. Often, however, users will resort to childish formats, spellings and styles — bombarding their fellow players with excessive capital letters, strange punctuations and even links to alternative sites. Every round becomes a tribute to nonsense.

This is a mistake — and one that must be corrected. Etiquette demands respect between users. All players must refrain from exchanging useless information. It distracts from the games and renders them ineffective. Chat sessions are meant to provide relief from the silence. This is not an excuse, however, for absurdity.

Obeying this form of conduct is — fortunately — easy. Users must simply remember to moderate themselves, tailoring their eagerness appropriately. This ensures that every round is worthwhile… instead of frustrating those involved.

Etiquette demands concise language. This is not a suggestion.

Learning Casino Card Games

People that take an interest in casino gambling often become fascinated by the card tables. There seems to be a great deal of strategy and action going on at a card table. If you have never played at a casino table before, the worst thing you can do is walk up and try your luck. Not only do you not know the rules of the game, you also do not know the subtle hand signals that players use to move the game along. Here is some advice on how to learn casino card games so that you can give them a try on your own.

1) Videos and Books

Reading a book on how to play your casino card game of choice is a good way to get started. Books are set up to outline the game to beginners, and will introduce the terminology and hand signals to you as well. Once you have an overview of the game from a book, start watching videos and television shows on how to play the game. Seeing the cards and player movements in action will help you to gain a better understanding of the game.

2) Live and In Person

Spend a lot of time at casinos watching other people play. Do not try to ask a lot of questions of the players or the dealers as that can get you kicked out of the casino. Just watch the game, pay close attention and try to pick up as much as you can.

3) Play Online

There are several casino card playing games online that you can use to get your first exposure to playing the game. You miss out on the dynamic interaction between players at the table, and you are not exposed to the hand signals you will need to know. But you will learn how to apply the rules and terminology of the game without costing you any money.

Once you have done your research, you are ready to try your first casino card game in person. Take your time and bet low when you start out. It takes time to become a high-rolling card player, so be patient and avoid losing the college fund at one sitting.

How to Play Craps

In craps, everyone at the table has the chance to roll the dice. However, if you do not want to roll, you don’t have to and you can just pass it to the next person. Your first roll is called the come out roll. You roll the dice at the opposite end of the table. You will want to toll either a 7 or 11 on this roll. If you do get a 7 or 11, you will get to roll again. If on your second roll you roll a 2, 3, or 12, you loose, also called crapping out. If you roll 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 that is your number. Your number is the number you want to roll again before you roll a 7. It is also called your point.

For example, if you rolled a 5, that is your point. When you roll again, if you roll a different number such as a 6, you are still in the game because it wasn’t a 7. If you roll your point number on your third turn, you made a pass. You will then get to roll again because you won your bet. If you roll a 7 before you roll your point number, you loose and the dice is passed to the next person.

For betting, there are 2 lines. The pass line and the don’t pass line. If you think the roller is going to make a pass, you will bet in the pass line. If you think the roller is going to roll a 7 before their point number, you will bet in the don’t pass line. To bet, go to the line you want to bet in and place your bet on the table in front of you.

To play blackjack, you first have to understand the object of the game and learn the rules. The object of the game is to get a hand that is higher than the dealers, but you do not want to go over 21. You will need to know how to score your hand. The kings, queens, jacks, and 10s are all worth 10 points each. Aces can be either 11 or 1 and all the other cards are worth the number of the card, for example, a 5 is worth 5 points. You will ask the dealer for more cards one at a time so you can increase the value of your hand. You will automatically loose if you go over 21, so stop taking cards before you get there.

If you get 21, show your cards immediately. You will win the hand if you do not go over 21 and you have equal or more points than the dealer. At the casino, each table will have a sign with its minimum and maximum bets. Find a table that has a minimum bet in your price range. Sit down at a table and place your bet. Wait until all the players have placed their bets and the dealer has dealt everyone two cards.

An insurance bet is when you bet that the dealer has 21. You may want to place an insurance bet if the dealer has an ace. One of their cards will be face up. If they have 21, all bets are cleared from the table and it pays 2 to 1. If they do not have 21, the bet is lost. When the dealer comes to you, say hit me and tap on the table if you want another card. Or you can just say “yes.” If you do not want another card, either wave your hand or say “no.”

How to Play Poker

The game poker is becoming more and more popular. The most basic type is 5-card draw. First you will need to know what the poker hand rankings are. The winner is the person who has the hand with the highest value. You can’t win if you do not know what these are. Just print out the rankings and memorize them.

The next thing you need to do is chip in. everyone will place an equal amount of currency into the pot. Whoever wins takes all of it. After shuffling, the dealer will deal everyone five cards and the deck is then placed in the middle of the table. Then look at your cards and evaluate how good your hand is. For beginning players who do not have much experience, it is usually easy to tell if they have a good hand or not. It is called a “tell.” Examples of a tell would be shallow breathing, too much eye contact, muscle flexes in their face, etc. try not to show any of these signs and you will have a better chance. Keeping a straight face all the way through is called a “poker face.”

You will then start taking turns. The first person is usually the first player on the dealer’s left. The player can either “open” or “check.” Opening means they will place the first bet. Checking means they pass and play continues with the next player. Once it is open, the players can see or call (put the same amount in the pot), fold (quit), or raise (putting in more than the last person).

The next thing you will do is draw. Once everyone has had a turn, you will replace up to three cards in your hand. You also do this in turns. You can replace up to three, but you do not have to replace any if you don’t want to. After this, you bet one more time and at the end, everyone turns their cards face up to see who won. Winner takes everything.
