THE former college lecturer caught cheating on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is cashing in his notoriety by offering his services as an after-dinner speaker.
Tecwen Whittock, who was caught helping Major Charles Ingram cheat his way to the top prize on the ITV quiz show by coughing to indicate the correct answers, is advertising his new role on a website, which also says that he is open to other marketing opportunities.
In April, he was convicted of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception, and given a 12-month suspended prison sentence, fined £10,000, and ordered to pay £7,500 costs.
The website - www.tecwenwhittock.com - which features a smiling photograph of Whittock, is entitled The Official Website of ‘The Cougher’." It tells how "Tecwen is open to all offers of work and is currently writing a book about his experiences", and features what it describes as "humorous quotes" about the case, including two from the show’s host, Chris Tarrant.
According to Whittock's website: "Tecwen Whittock is a unique name and is instantly associated with coughing.
"Tecwen is open to all marketing opportunities to use his name and association with coughing."
